"I stayed at the Catalonia Hotel in Santo Domingo from 5/24/26 to 5/31/26, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. Upon arrival, I was assigned a room on the 16th floor without being informed that major construction was taking place directly below on the 15th floor. The noise was constant from early morning until evening, making it impossible to relax, rest, or enjoy my vacation.
After I complained, I was moved to a room on the 21st floor. Although the noise was not as intense, it was still noticeable. Once I unpacked and settled in, I discovered a cockroach on the curtain. It escaped when I tried to catch it, but the next morning I found it on the headboard above my bed. Finding a roach in a hotel room is unacceptable and certainly not what I expected.
The hotel’s only restaurant was also a disappointment. The waiter dropped all of my fries onto the seat next to me and onto the floor, and the steak I ordered was tough and difficult to eat.
While the staff was generally polite, there was no effort to make things right. No refund, room credit, complimentary meal, or any other form of compensation was offered despite the construction noise, the pest issue, and the poor dining experience.
After seven days of dealing with these problems, I can honestly say I will never return and cannot recommend this hotel to anyone."
