There is so much to do in this property! Definitely recommend for the stay and the pool but they have a coffee tour, they have a 9k hike with really cool view points, and more!

This will be my new "go to" when I'm in the area. It's a 10 minute drive to Santa Ana but nestled in the mountains below a coffee farm. It's super quiet, peaceful, and beautifully decorated. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The price is right and could not have asked for a better stay! It would be 10 stars if that was an option : )

The only reason I’m giving a 4 star is because they charged 10$ to use a bath room put in your room. Everything else was great. Food, staff, location

Stepping Back
The hotel had a feeling of stepping back into time… Coffee plantation . The lounging or sitting room had display of pictures from railroad history , various pottery and art .
To explore the area bring your walking shoes the area is incline or hilly.
There is transportation provided to various area around the hotel

The property is very unique. We had a room facing the city and is a breathtaking view. The weather is perfect up there : chilly enough to sleep at night and warm enough to enjoy the pool during the day. The staff is great, the restaurant , and the free breakfast is delicious.

Loads of character! Set in the rainforest above a coffee plantation and decorated with unique vintage furniture, this hotel exudes a rustic luxury that gives one the feel of what it must have been like to live in the plantation owner’s house at the turn of the 20th century. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I loved the coffee tour and the claw footed tub with the view out of the round window! The view down to San Jose at night was also spectacular.

This was a lovely place to stay. Quiet, beautiful location close to San Jose. The room we stayed in was grand with beautiful antique furniture and large windows overlooking the spacious grounds and city below. Internet was great! Breakfast was served on a gorgeous patio, was delicious with wonderful coffee served by excellent, friendly staff. Exceeded our expectations. There was one big miss for me. There were no fans and the wondows had no screens. Therefore, we had no way to move the air. The bed was comfortable, but I was hot, so I did not sleep well. We dis request a fan, but there were none to be had. I strongly recommend this hotel gets a few fans for the guests like us, who really need them.

I loved the pool and the yoga platform above it with the Buddha ! Very peaceful and lots if attention to details that made it beautiful! Lots of love went into the place. Loved the hiking in the coffee plantation on the mantra trail and even the hike up and down the hill to La burra restaurant. Tho you can get a little shuttle down and up. Staff super friendly and welcoming.

I would stay at Don Ernesto again for vacation next time. The staff are friendly, greeted us every time they see us. Asked if we are good. We mostly stayed out because we were on business travel. The view from the balcony is stunning. Our room is beautiful, to my taste. Over all our experience is great!

We stayed in Atico suite. No doorknob, no bathroom door.
no screens or AC, but not really needed.
Beautiful grounds.
Incredible views
I use a cane and I had to really take it slow. but was able to make it around.

This is not a “luxury” hotel as they claim all it has going for it is a beautiful view, but this is barely better than camping out on a mountain top. The pool is not swimmable because of how cold it is, not single person swam during our stay. The rooms are dirty and don’t have real windows or AC. The shower has a tiny little head that pours out lukewarm warm. Every amenity besides breakfast the hotel offers is charged for, $2/bottle of water (the staff laughed about it because they know it’s overpriced as they were telling me about it), $10/robe, $15/person to hike the trail they boldly brag about on their signs and pictures. There’s nothing really around the area to do so you might as well just book something a little further away. If you have an early flight you have to communicate it with them the day before so you can actually be let out of the gate. The day before we woke up at 4am to head to Manuel Antonio and one of the workers blocked us in with his car(they later blamed it on a nonexistent “guest”) and no one was at reception or the gate to even let us out.

Staff was unprofessional, a 300$ room per night deserves better service at check-in and in addition room keys are HEADIOUS wood plank with an old metalic key!

El lugar es perfecto para los que aman la naturaleza, si eres muy propenso a odiar las arañas o los mosquitos puedes odiarlo un poco, fuera de eso.. el lugar es muy tranquilo y la comida deliciosa
