Excellent location close to all attractions. Because of being close to Northwestern Hospital, ambulance sirens are an issue, especially at night, until you get used to them.

Hidden gem

The hotel is very clean with a subtle but pleasant scent. The location is excellent—just across the street from the newly opened Harry Potter store and close to Starbucks Reserve. The lobby is bright and welcoming, with large windows that let in plenty of natural light and thoughtfully arranged seating areas that invite you to relax. The beautiful tulips along Michigan Avenue add a vibrant and seasonal charm to the surroundings.

Pros and cons

Old, but clean and roomy considering the price. Staff was friendly and nice too. Downsides were lack of hot water in the shower 2 out of 3 nights, and absolutely no window view or sunshine due to buildings standing right next to the room which was depressing but maybe okay for those who only spleen in the room.

Needs more and brighter lighting and additional electrical outlet plugs conveniently located for charging the various accessories modern life and business requires. Also, I had to call to housekeeping 3 times - once for restocking of coffee in room and twice for sufficient towels and bath mats.

We were in Chicago for our 22nd anniversary. The service was excellent! Brandon checked us in he was efficient, friendly and accommodating. The room was beautiful and plenty big enough for 2 people. The bed was comfortable and clean. Gina was our housekeeper and she was wonderful. We will definitely stay here again.
