The hotel itself was beautiful, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We especially appreciated the perks like free fries at Ray's and the free tickets to the DIA. The only downside was the noise from Woodward. I'd highly recommend asking for a room that is not facing the street. We were on the 6th floor, and the noise was nonstop until maybe 2 am. Revving engines, loud music, sirens. I even brought earplugs, and it wasn't enough. Otherwise, it was a wonderful stay.

First time staying at Shinola; it was like a 5 star resort in an urban setting. The entire complex is laid out so well! There are multiple restaurants, bars, shops, walkways….. it feels like you’ve left the hotel, but you haven’t even left the block it’s on. The rooms are nearly soundproof and you can blast the stereo (yes, they put big Bluetooth speakers in each room) without bothering your neighbors….. we tried it and stood outside the door, couldn’t hear a thing! I don’t ever want to stay at another hotel in Detroit.

Loved all the staff at San Marello! Top notch people! Shinola the front desk employees need to stop talking to each other and pay more attention to the guests. When you just leave your luggage with the man at the counter to store for you and you literally come back 10 minutes later and he can't even remember who you are by your face, there's an issue! Especially for what you pay for a room and I've stayed there many times! I'm even a foundry member of The Shinola Store!
