"I initially booked a week in an oceanfront room but decided to extend my stay in Sal after my flight to Praia was canceled. No other resort can compete with the RIU Santa Maria. There are at least three pools, five to six restaurants, 24 hour service. Hotel staff like Nilton at reception and the ladies at the coffee bar made my solo visit to the island much more enjoyable. The resort sent a bottle of brut to my room in recognition of my birthday (they must have noticed the date on my passport)....

"When we arrive at 2 o'clock in the morning we discovered that we had no room there,even if we had booked in April and we had to go to another Melia resort in the nearby. we were very disappointed also for the standard of the premises that it is not at all a 5-star hotel, as you can see from the picture. "I arrived late at night and the receptionist Lou was friendly. I asked the hotel for the shuttle and there was lack of communication their side. They hadn't confirmed and i booked via a different site and they sent a taxi anyway! Luckily my private taxi agreed to take me on the return airport run. The room was lovely and spacious. Nice bathroom and balcony too. Aircon and a fan. All staff were nice and happy to help. 5 minutes from the pier and
