We needed an overnight stay. The Oddfellows is in poor shape. Room was adequate and reflected what we paid. Bathrooms at either end of corridor, toilet roll taken by other guests as soon as replaced by owner. Bed was comfortable and overall our stay was good. We wish the owner luck with his future plans.

This is a great place to stay. We used this hotel as our base as we backpacked across Europe. My wife especially enjoyed making our own breakfast in the fully stocked kitchen. Peter was a great host with lots of tips that made our travels even more enjoyable. The Swinton Train Station is a short walk from the hotel. Everything was great!

10/10 Exceptional

The accommodation was basic However the service provided by Peter was outstanding. and the breakfast was excellent. there was a huge choice including Oat milk and you could eat as much or as little as you liked. Peter was a perfect host and a mine of information. He was most helpful. I would definitely recomment the Oddfellows Arms and would stay there again.

6/10 Good

Peter was a very good host and is very helpful. He upgraded my room for one night because of a cancellation and I appreciate it. Although the cleanliness and hygiene was not up to my expectation. The plates and bowls at the breakfast were not clean and the bedding seemed to not have been changed in the dorm room for sometime. Overall for the price I paid it was a good stay.

The host Peter is lovely & very friendly I can’t rate the breakfast as I didn’t eat it in the end. I’m aware it’s budget so not expecting much but hygiene is an issue what needs addressing. No fresh towels as promised after initially being told to use the ones in the bathroom what had been used as they was thrown on the floor. The Wallpaper was hanging off the wall the blind was useless it’s all broken so the light just streams in, I get it’s an old building but there is a very strong smell in the room. The shared toilet carpet needs pulling up it strongly of urine and also wobbles to the side when sat on !! I don’t expect a mega amount for the price but the place needs a bit of tlc & a good clean if you are charging people to stay. I’ve ran a proper good old pub myself so I’m aware of what’s expected. My advice is take the review onboard to try and better potentially a great spot to stop in. Lovely host who seems lovely please have a look at a few things please

8/10 Very good

although it looks a little shabby on tbe outside the room was clean and warm the owner Peter really went the extra mile to be accomodating, giving recommendations for local spots to eat its above a karaoke bar so it was a little loud but not obnoxiously so, and Peter did offer to move me to a different room if the noise too much overall a very good value for money place to stay, especially with the complementary breakfast

Oddfellows lives up to its name 100% Exteriorly the building scares you; peeling paintwork, broken wooden fences, dropping facias, even a broken half hanging To Let sign as cherry on top! But once you meet the proprietor, and gets inside, I was enlightened! In brief, I can say many hotels, even 6 * hotels in South East Asia, I've stayed in, I've sworn under my breath that the rooms were designed more for aesthetics then for living in; one pet hate of mine especially Travelodge is NO power socket plugs by bedside; how to chat on phone whilst in bed? They expect you to get out of bed, trot over to other side of room to plug your phone in, get back into bed, then Tttrrriiinng, a new message notification comes in! It's annoying! But in Oddfellows, the room is obviously less luxurious as it's a hostel BUT it's damn practical, there's a barrel of power sockets beneath the bedside cabinet, a practical bedside lamp that has a simple switch, a nice size wardrobe with LOTs of hangers not FIVE like most boutique hotels, a tiny cute fridge, a quick dispenser kettle not typical hotel kettles with cords that's always not long enough to reach the limited power plugs and a washbasin with soap dispenser and towels, great bed with clean sheets etc Out my room, round the corner, 5 metres walk is the absolutely clean large shower and toilet you can swing several cats around, no probs. Breakfast is unique too, you cook it! Overall; thumbs up 👍 have booked another stay for later this month

Unforgettable.

I Will start off by saying that the owner Peter is friendly and accommodating. The place is not far from the train station, and you can get to Manchester in 15 mins. However there we’re some issues with our stay. First the whole place smells strongly of cigarette smoke and I found a burnt out cigarette butt in the shared toilet beside the sink. The room was rather scruffy with mould on the ceiling and mysterious stains on the bed sheets. The music from the bar downstairs was very loud and plays til late. Very loud karaoke. Also can hear customers drinking and yelling in beer garden til late. Only available light source is the ceiling light that comes with an added surprise of being a Bluetooth speaker which someone from the bar had un knowingly connected to while we were in bed late at night. The speaker was blaring uncontrollably and changing colours rapidly. The only way to stop the invasively loud sounds was to turn the light off completely as there are no buttons to control the speaker part of it. Obviously as it’s above a bar you know what you’re in for with the noise, and if you like a drink, karaoke, and socialising with the locals, it’s a good spot for you. If you’re travelling with intent of having a quiet and early night, might not be the place for you. All in all an unforgettable stay.

Stay at your own risk

This place was terrible in every way possible, dirty bedding, bin overflowing with dirty tissue, lock on bedroom doors didn't work, owner said the hall was longer than it should be so if there was a fire we would have no choice but to get into another room that might have an emergency window. Breakfast left out from 12 midnight for the next morning, but told not to eat to much, the smell of weed was terrible, the owner literally stuck his nose in the cup to smell the milk in the room to see if it was ok, coffee in the jar was black and dried to the sides, dirty red towel in room. I left the building and drove around searching for somewhere else to stay and i found a lovely place that i would highly recommend called britaina Hotel, i lost out on money as i paid in full at the Oddfellows, omg i cant put into words the state of this place,

Absolutely fantastic stay. The breakfast alone deserves a mention. Usually you go to a place that has all inclusive breakfast, and it’s a loaf of bread, bit of milk , an apple and cornflakes…. Not here! The sheer amount of choice was incredible, catering for everyone from vegans and vegetarians to those who are gluten-free. There was even a mix of wholemeal , gluten free and white bread, fruits, all types of alternative milk, pastries , pancakes, yoghurts, cheese, 5 or 6 cereals(and gf!)and the option to cook yourself a full veggie/ vegan/ meat English exactly how you like it. The bed was really comfortable, the place spotless, and I felt completely secure throughout my stay. The people I shared with were lovely, and Peter, the owner, was the perfect host — couldn’t do enough to help. We chatted for hours, and he was a hive of local knowledge, full of great tips on places to visit, eat, and how to get around. This place is also dog friendly at NO additional charge. How many places can you say that for in Manchester?! I’ll definitely be going back and can’t wait for the next excuse to come to Manchester.
