Nice size room with large bathroom

This was the largest room we stayed in during our Scandinavian trip. Very generous size and a huge bathroom with a bathtub. Nice breakfast as well. It would have been nice if it were just a few minutes closer to town, but still walkable.

Nice airy room. Comfortable bed. A bit noisy because of the traffic outside in the morning. A lot of buses. Most of the time the coffee machine in the annex out of order because of lack of water or coffee.

Fabulous hotel with friendly staff and comfortable rooms. We were looked after by Helena, who was very friendly and helpful, a real credit to the hotel. We would recommend staying here if you are on a Hurtigruten trip as it is very close to the terminal, walking distance with a case, and the rooms are reasonably priced.

Not the worst, not the best

The hotel seems to be mainly used for large tour groups. It is separated into two sections with a road in between. I was in the second building which was not staffed. The street was noisy at night. The staff was pleasant and for being a bus drop off and pick up place the next day, it was okay.

Doesn't live up to the brand

Had a great stay at Scandic in Oslo, but this Bergen location was a huge letdown. I was moved between two rooms in different buildings—both outdated and noisy. First room had the wrong bed and shared a wall with the elevator. Second was farther from the elevator but still loud due to a nearby music festival and no AC. On a rare hot day (24°C+), the room became an oven, made worse by a stuck-on floor heater. Staff never followed up. The building looked untouched since the '80s—damaged walls, stained wallpaper, and worn fixtures. Skipped breakfast because it was in yet another building. The online photos must be of a completely different place.

We had messaged ahead requesting a room in the main building but were allocated a room across the road in the annex. This in itself was not a big issue but the room was sub par to our expectations. There were numerous gouges and marks on the wall. It was in need of renovation. The fridge did not seem to work and the shower tended to flood the bathroom. Just to note this was a standard room not economy so I did expect more. I believe you can request a room clean but we weren’t advised this on check in. By the time we realised this we were about to leave next day. We did manage to get fresh towels ourselves. Plus points we got to check in a couple of hours earlier than expected which was helpful. Breakfast was also excellent, plenty choice and lots of tables so we never had to wait. The annex building was quiet even over a weekend. Location of the hotel was good too. Short walk from the light rail stop for the airport.
