Great place to stay at

Great hotel on the edge of De Pijp and within walking distance from the city center. Not cheap , but worth the money as opposed to busy inner city hotels. Kind of a well needed oasis to relax in after encountering hordes of other tourists in the old town

The place is quiet and good, the only down is that some of the parts in the room is starting to wear and tear. Other than that is perfect if you want a quiet hotel, that isnt in the central Amsterdam area. The plus is that Amsterdam Zuid station is very close to this hotel and its convenient to other cities in Netherlands, and also Brussels in Belgium

The hotel has a nice restaurant/bar and a lovey sitting area with fireplace. The nearest train is a 15 min walk. I do like that the hotel was not directly in the busy city center. There are lots of shops on the way to the train. The staff was ok.

The Apollo Hotel was a beautiful hotel with fun décor. A few of the front desk clerks were great and very helpful, however, there were several that had bad attitudes and appeared to be annoyed by our requests. One such experience, we requested additional toilet paper when our room was not cleaned and he never had it sent up. When I went down to the front desk there was a female desk clerk and she was pleasant and took care of the matter immediately.

Fawlty Towers

FAWLTY TOWERS IN AMSTERDAM! We waitwd 45 mins for a sandwich on arrival and cleaned our own table as no one else did. The remote control of TV didnt work. When i mentioned this they said they would look into it..they didnt! The hairdryer didnt work. The Air Con was off during the night, so we boiled. The bar closed early...and to top it all....they forgot to order our taxi when we requested a taxi...not worth the money at all.

Good hotel in a nice neighbourhood

All in all a good stay. However, it is always surprising how poorly many hotels monitor the status of faucets and drains in bathrooms. In our room at the Apollo Hotel, for some reason the shower hose had been shortened so much that it only reached neck height. In addition, the mixer was worn out and thus impossible to adjust. These are features that the cleaning staff should monitor and ensure are addressed before any guest is affected. Equally surprising, however, was that no previous guest had complained about anything that was clearly not a new deficiency. While the hotel is outside the center of Amsterdam, it is located in a very nice area with many good restaurants and cafes within walking distance. The nearest tram stop is within a ten-minute walk. I can definitely recommend the hotel despite the mixer issue as the staff were very responsive to complaints and the issue was quickly rectified.

Great choice of hotel

Just spent a fabulous 3 night stay here and cant fault it, so clean ,room was spacious and lots of choices at breakfast. Never heard a thing at night ,so slept all night.a short walk to tram stop or metro. It was my birthday on Saturday, we never told the staff,but on returning to our room ,there was a large chocolate brownie,with happy birthday written on the plate, they must have noticed my dat of birth on my passport, a great gesture from the Appolo hotel highly recommended.
