Pleasing stay

Friendly check in. Clean room, comfy bed, the right price point. A pleasing stay. Only downside is proximity to town centre.

8/10 Very good

Lovely place but disappointed with the food! Waited a long time on both evenings and items I wanted weren’t available! Final night they had a group of men who were very loud and swore a lot. They talked about women and weren’t very complimentary about them either! Staff were lovely and we felt sorry for the young waiter who had to apologise a lot! Mixed messages about a guide dog n training being allowed in the restaurant.

Booked at the last minute and excellent value for money. Wished I’d found it earlier as it is so much nicer than Travelodges I’ve stayed in before in this area. Can’t comment on other hotel facilities as l only stayed one night and left early next morning so didn’t eat. I would certainly return.

The room was lovely. Clean and comfortable. The staff were welcoming but thin on the ground. Dinner was disappointing as only a lounge Menu was available but as i only wanted a simple Alternative it was quickly provided. Overall a pleasant 2 night break.

5 stars for cleanliness and politeness of staff,

Rooms and hotel restaurant very clean polite and courteous staff, all spoiled by noisy inconsiderate guests noisy and banging doors till early hours of morning, smell of pot on ground floor. All this causing dogs that were staying with guests to bark and keep awake people.

Dreadful place. The room was terrible. Very dated and in desperate need of decorating. I would not recommend this to anyone and would never stay here again unless I was desperate.

Avoid

1980's place with coloured bathroom suite and no investmwnt in 40 years. Pool etc shut. Breakfast a shambles with almost every table covered with dirty dishes etc and no staff. No juices left, no plates/bowls for continental. A complete joke

the hotel was great and so was the staff.however we had bookes because of the spa which since the refeb had been shut.so we felt it was not that great value and would have picked somewhere else

Love the room just a shame no restaurant for evening meal
DIANE, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel, which I had looked forward to. We specifically booked a "Standard Double Bed," but upon arrival, we were given a twin bed. When we raised this issue, we were told it was "Hotels.com" fault due to a miscommunication indicating "twin" rather than "deluxe." Additionally, the breakfast was of very poor quality, and the service was lacking. Even after multiple requests, the coffee we asked for upon our arrival at breakfast was only brought to us after we had finished eating. Overall, I would rate my experience a 2/10. I would not recommend this hotel based on our experience.

Upon arrival the outside of the main building looks good that's were it's stops the staff are 5 star in there welcome and doing there jobs no problem there The room was very dated no plug sockets near the bed furniture very dated not in a good way Bathroom absolutely disgusting paint peeling of the ceiling bathroom was some thing out the 70s not in a good way very poor condition No WiFi in room at all again in this day is a standard thing Carpets very dated needs new one or a very deep clean at least made me feel ill being in the room such low standard I had a evening meal that was sent back twice as under cooked in parts meat was rough didn't even get correct meal at the same time Beer was off tasted disgusting I was up being sick all last night The breakfast was so bad I sent it back As over cooked how you can cook a breakfast wrong is a serious concern The buildings are in such bad repair it doesn't match what you see on the website Now I understand why the rooms are cheap Even the staff agreed with what I said to them they were so kind and friendly It's a shame at the hole venue could be made 5 star and above very easy the lack of money that hasn't been spent is shown Should be a amazing place to stay at best it's 2/ 10 at moment I could very easily renovate the venue to achieve 5 star and above As we are working in local areas on several big developments But I wouldn't put my team members in there as is

Nice country hotel

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds with a reservoir walk behind. The man at check in didn’t have much to say, we had a room in the annex which was clean but a little tired, the shower was poor but the bed was comfortable. The lady on reception at check out was really friendly. I would stay there again but would request a room in the main hotel. P.s The white crow a mile down the road does good food
Sarah, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

We received a btight cheery welcome with some helpful advice on nearby eating options. The upgrade room was spacious and comfortable with great views. Unfortunately there was a problem with lack of heating, hiwever a portable heater supplied from reception solved the problem. Breakfast was excellent with some quality elements to choose from.

Business trip

One night business stay. Lovely quite location but only 5 mins drive from nearest shops/supermarkets. Better gym facilities than a lot of places I've stayed in with a Jacuzzi & small pool. Very pleasant hotel with nice grounds. Helpful staff. If I'm in the area I would stay again.
Martin, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Extremely average hotel. Could be nice, solid Victorian building but beautiful fireplaces not lit (on freezing night with snow) and minimal attention to detail and comfort. Deluxe room very basic, get more in a Premier Inn - but bed was comfortable. Nice dining room but no dinner served and disgusting self-serve breakfast. Cannot recommend, disappointing.
Miranda, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Stopped here two nights. However were on two separate bookings as plans changed. The second night the key card needed to be changed before could access room. Also the shower was stuck on the top hot setting which made showering extremely hazardous.

Stunning hotel

The hotel is stunning. Loved the history. Eating in the large conservatory was a joy. The bar was amazing too and grounds just beautiful. Staff could not be more helpful. Thank you. The whole experience helped alleviate an otherwise stressful time.
Lounge and bar area.

Room was excellent, albeit no lift awkward if your carrying large luggage upstairs. Breakfast wasn’t the best. Location lovely.

We went from an old and moldy hotel in Samlesbury and we thought it couldnt get worse.... But it did. This hotel has not been renovated for decades I assume. Uncomfortable room with old furniture, horible shower and smelly old carpets. I do not recommend this hotel for travelers that are sensitive to mold.
