Classy historical hotel not far from the centre
We stayed twice in this hotel ( i.e. upon arrival and upon departure from Sth America) for a total of 3 nights. Most of the reception staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful. The hotel was tastefully decorated and furnished in an "Old World Style". Due to a lack of elevators, we found it a bit difficult getting our bags up the stairs, but the charm of the place made up for this minor inconvenience. We loved the tranquil courtyard full of trees and appreciated the security that the high front remote controlled gates offered. The breakfasts were tasty and offered considerable variety, but the lunches unfortunately took too long to be prepared, even though we were the only ones in the restaurant. The location, being walking distance from the centre of Santiago , and also to the Human Rights museum in the opposite direction was very convenient . The rooms were very comfortable, both ours and that assigned to our adolescent children, all with nice decor and modern attractive showers. The hotel taxi service to the airport was very convenient, albeit a bit expensive. We are very glad of our choice of hotel, having been recommended other options ( skyscraper hotel and appartment ) by friends, but preferring this option , as it was unique and quaint.

Friendly boutique hotel
I stayed for two nights in early December 2017. I took the inexpensive Centroperto bus from the airport to Los Heroes (about US$5 round trip), from there it is only a 10 minute walk to the Matildas Hotel. The hotel is beautiful, full of character. My single room (13) was on the third floor and was clean and comfortable, and had enough space for one person plus luggage. The bed was comfortable, the room had a rear garden view, and the shower in the small bathroom had great water pressure. Staff on reception were very friendly and helpful, and spoke excellent English. Breakfast was very good, including cooked-to-order eggs (or omelette). Although there is a metro stop as Los Heroes, the Republica stop is a 2-3 minute shorter walk. The hotel is in a neighbourhood rather than "downtown", but I felt fine walking out in the evenings. While many would choose a chain hotel in the modern downtown/business area, I loved being in a small, beautifully unusual hotel in a "real" neighbourhood. It was a joy to stay here, and I would definitely return if my travels take me back to Santiago.

Character Hotel in The Heart Of Downtown
This is a beautiful old building in downtown Santiago. The hotel is about a ten minute walk to the subway and about 20 minutes to the main square. The staff were very welcoming and helpful at check in and throughout our stay. There breakfast and sandwiches were good but we did not eat an evening meal. There are nearby bars and restaurants and we found it an ideal location. Our room was at the front of the hotel and traffic noise was a problem in the morning. I would suggest you ask for a room overlooking the charming garden. Our room was a decent size ideal for a couple of nights, it was equipped with a safe and tv with some English channels. The room was not air conditioned although it did have a fan. The temperature during our stay was about 25 degrees Celsius, any hotter and we would have found the room uncomfortable at night. Only reason not giving it a five was the fact that the bedding in our room was rather tatty.

Old World Charm & Beauty!
This is a gorgeous hotel in an old mansion with a beautiful garden in the back that provides a serene retreat from the world outside. We were very charmed by it all! The breakfast is delicious and the staff is very friendly and helpful. My only critique -- which I already shared with the hotel -- is that they spray each room with heavy fragrance after each cleaning. It is completely unnecessary. If strong fragrance is something that bothers you, speak up before you check in and they will do their best not to spray the room the day you arrive. In speaking with the very nice hotel owner about this, he seemed open to ending this practice altogether and perhaps he will have done so by the time you check in. The hotel is next to a long street with many different restaurants, cafes and bars, and it's not too far from the Plaza Armas. In all, we definitely recommend this hotel for it's Old World charm and beauty!

Hotel is very beautifully renovated and the staff were very helpful. They spoke English and tried to make your stay enjoyable. It is situated about a 15 minute walk from the main centre but there are restaurants close by. Probably in the more dodgy end but I didn’t feel uncomfortable walking around on my own as a 62 year old female. My room overlooked the garden and was fairly compact but it had everything you needed. There was a three flight walk up to my room but my luggage was taken up for me. If your knees aren’t good maybe not an option. The tea and coffee was on offer all the time and breakfast was yummy. It had cosy places to sit. Overall a nice place to stay.
